Code of Ethics
As members of the Masonry Institute of Michigan, we aim to support the organization’s mission of being the region’s leading masonry resource through education, promotion, and technical assistance. We believe in operating our businesses with the following values: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, and fairness. As members, we pledge to do the following:
- We will adhere to industry guidelines as outlined in documents published by The Masonry Society (TMS), International Building Code (IBC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), Portland Cement Association (PCA), Concrete and Masonry Hardscapes Association (CMHA), Brick Industry Association (BIA), Natural Stone Institute (NSI), and the Cast Stone Institute (CSI).
- We will strive to keep the health and safety of our employees, customers, and subcontractors at the forefront by following safety guidelines, adhering to laws and recommendations, and putting safety first in every aspect of our mission. We will support the alliance between the MIM and the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA).
- We will deal fairly with the design and construction communities. Honesty, integrity, equality, and professionalism will guide our organization’s mission.
- We will educate the design and construction communities to ensure they have adequate knowledge of masonry wall systems and understand the value of working with unit masonry.
- We will promote a spirit of cooperation and collaboration within the design and construction communities we serve.
- We understand that relative to the construction community, the role of the MIM is to assist members with requesting information or proposing alternatives based on published standards, publications, and research prior to the commencement of work. We will not expect the MIM to take a position that opposes published information, nor will we expect the MIM to support workmanship that is not consistent with industry standards.
We understand these responsibilities are part of our obligation as members of the Masonry Institute of Michigan.
