NCMA Solutions Center: When is it okay to backfill when constructing a concrete masonry basement wall?

From NCMA eNews
August 1, 2019

Backfilling can be done after walls are properly braced or the first floor is in place. This is to prevent the wall from possibly cracking or failing due to large soil pressures. For more information on basement wall construction, see TEK 3-11Concrete Masonry Basement Wall Construction.
