National Disaster Resilience Conference is going on now

Members of the concrete and masonry industries this week are engaging researchers, insurers, policy makers and other material suppliers on how to make building structures and communities better able to withstand blows from natural disasters. The National Disaster Resilience Conference in Clearwater, Florida serves as a forum to coordinate a wide range of efforts related to resilience including communications, funding, research, and building codes. Innovative concrete masonry solutions were showcased for attendees as part of a limited exhibit area. Also being addressed with FLASH (Federal Alliance for Safe Homes) are strategies for rebuilding low income housing in the Hurricane Michael ravaged Florida panhandle using concrete masonry code-plus construction.
