When Hurricane Florence hit the East Coast of the United States last summer, Ashley Jones, a Washington Park, North Carolina resident, evacuated her home and found refuge at her parents' house. A few days after the mega storm, she paid her house a visit -- via kayak. And, upon discovering significant flood damage and the waters which had invaded her walls, she decided to apply more than just a temporary fix. Rather, she opted for a long-term solution: a full renovation. She was going to use concrete block to help ensure that she'd never come back to find her house underwater again.
